Southern States Chemical Earns Two Safety Awards

Southern States Chemical Earns CSX Safety Award for the Seventh Consecutive Year

CSX Corporation recognized Southern States Chemical with the CSX Chemical Safety Excellence Award for 2023, marking the seventh consecutive year that Southern States Chemical earned this national award. This distinguished recognition is reserved for CSX customers who shipped at least 600 carloads with zero non-accidental releases of regulated hazardous materials shipments on the CSX network during the calendar year.

“On this, the 30th anniversary for recognizing this outstanding safety achievement, I want to personally thank you for your shared commitment to safety,” said Kevin Boone, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at CSX Transportation. “I would also like to acknowledge your employees’ dedication that resulted in the safe loading and unloading of chemical shipments and proper car maintenance.”

Southern States Chemical Earns North Carolina Department of Labor Gold Safety Award for the Fifth Year

In May 2024, Southern States Chemical’s Wilmington site was recognized by the North Carolina Department of Labor for the fifth year with a Gold Safety Award in recognition of working over 51,000 hours without an injury in 2023. Members of the SSC-Wilmington team attended a special banquet to receive the award in person.
